Deleted music still showing in itunes

In a panic a few weeks ago, (to free up hard drive space) I went into my music files and deleted a huge amount of music I no longer needed. I realise now that because I did it from the music folder, and not itunes, itunes still lists the music in its library.
Is there any way I can "restore" itunes so that it only lists music contained in the music folder? Or "sync" it with the music in the itunes music folder?
