Text messages getting returned to me...problems! please help!

I'm having a problem sending text messages to someone within my own area code.

Basically when I respond to her text messages, they get returned to me. But when I compose a new text message AND dial the area code (even though it's in my same area code), it works fine.

I'm almost wondering if there's a way to force it to dial the area code. I already set up her contact info as having the area code within the contacts area.

I don't know, something is screwy. Can anyone help?

Hello, Posted below are some steps that may assist with this issue

1. Reboot iPhone - Hold down the home button & sleep/lock button till the Apple logo appears, and wait for the iPhone OS to reboot, Now see if you have the same issue.

2. Toggle Airplane mode ON for 1 min then OFF, Settings- Airplane Mode ON 1 min then turn OFF.
Now see if same issue occurs

3. Reset Network Settings- Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings-Confirm, iPhone OS will reboot, Now test SMS again

4. Delete the entire SMS conversation with your friend, Now go back and start a Conversation like it was brand new first time ever contacting them, See if same issue occurs.

5. Delete the conversation again, Delete your friend from contacts and re-add your friend, Now test SMS again

6. Update to iPhone Software 1.1.4, Test SMS again

7. Restore iPhone. Please ensure all backups have been made so all information can be put back onto iPhone. Please call 1-800-My-iPhone if you require assistance

8. If this is still an issue please contact AT&T for troubleshooting assistance with your Data account
