shared library error:

hi every one, I have had a good look around and cant find the answer to my problem.

I have an imac slotloading 450dv (in a fetching blue) I have just upgraded to osx and then installed 9 support

(mine came with os 9.0 so I had to install it, boot into 9 and run the updates to 9.2.?)

after rebooting into x and allocating lots of memory to old word and excell all seems to be ok.

problem is i wanted to install our new digital camera but i am hitting this shared library, same happens when i tried to intall shockwave and flash.

full error: (from shockwave)

Application Launch Failure

The application "Shockwave Installer Slim" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "9<BaseInstaller Carbon><BaseInstaller Carbon><CarbonLib>"

I notice there is a lot of talk about applications not running but everything else seems ok, its just these installers which wont run, apple updates are working fine i have the latest safari and itunes versions going fine.

any hints?

Cheers

Oh, there I thought that was a 9 error, and went with your 9 details…

It's not impossible and it's highly unlikely your 9 or anything installed for it, incuding your old Word or Excel, will interfere with an X installer, particularly if 9 Classic isn't running at the time…

Exactly which Shockwave and Flash versions are you trying to install, please?

Its flash player 8 osx (according to the name on the installer) and im not sure which shockwave (the lateset osx one from the website ) but it is also giving me the error with the digital camera software, so i think that its the installer program itself, i can however, open the installer program in my utilities folder without a problem. though i cant use it with the installer programs...

Im close to giving up too.

no i diddnt run the repair disk between each update, i have since run the disk repair and clicked repair permissions and its still doing the same thing.

i'm going to backp and reinstall the whole lot, over the next week.

i'm this close to bowing down to MS and buying the new version of office as that wa really all we needed from 9 anyway
