Black screen with white text on boot

Hi, When I boot my mac I see the apple logo for a few seconds. after that I see a black screen with white text then the computer starts up. What is this and how do I fix it?

Any help appreciated

Hi

This is "verbose mode", which is a boot-up mode used mostly for troubleshooting the boot process. Sometimes your system can get into that mode accidentally. Try this: boot up holding down cmd-opt-O-F (to get into Open Firmware). Type:

reset-nvram
reset-all

Your computer should restart; reboot it once more to see if you are now booting normally.
