v-drums via midi

I would like to record some drums.. I have a simple set of v-drums with two 1/4 outputs. I have a simple audio interface with one XLR input and one 1/4 input.

Wondering how this might work... would it sound like crap? would it be in mono?

Questions..questions...

And then the idea of midi out crossed my mind.

Could I record the vdrums via the midi in and play them back via midi out so that we can record the vdrums live in the mixdown stage synced with the rest of my song in garageband?

it would sound exactly like what it sounds like now with speakers or headphones.

with a single 1/4" input, yes.

i can't really make any sense from this.

you'd need a MIDI interface:

(Click "MIDI Only" in the righthand sidebar)

you could then record your drums into a MIDI track in GB. GB offers no MIDI-OUT.

Hey Hangtime,

Basically, I guess what I'm trying to do is get the best possible drum recording using a set of V-drums that I have - the brains of which has 2 1/4 inch outs and my audio interface which has 1 xlr and 1 1/4 inch input.

My buddy is telling me all this stuff about using a midi interface (above my head) but it sounds like it MIGHT work. I think this is what you're talking about too.
