Copy or Duplicate audio channel?

Is there an easy way (filter or keystroke) to duplicate one channel of audio to the other quickly and easily? In Adobe Premiere (blasphemy!) it's a filter called "fill right" or "fill left." Is there an easy way to do it in FCP without copying one channel, deleting the other, pasting in the first and adjusting the pan? If no, WHY NOT?

FCP supports both Mono and Stereo Pair tracks. If you have a single (mono) track, why do you need to duplicate the channel? Two channels of the same material is still mono (even if you pan one to the left and the other to the right.)

Why not simply pan the one track to center and be done?

If you really want to do it, select the clip to duplicate, hold option which will turn add a + sign to your pointer and drag, hold shift also to keep it in line with the original track. This will copy all settings and effects. You'll need to adjust pan if the track is panned to the side.
