Creative Extigy USB

Hello...

I read somewhere that os x supports the creative extigy usb sound system...but when hooked into my mac mini running mac os x 10.4.2...the system recognized it....but would not use it.

In order to fix I purchased a third party hardware driver from asio.com which works like a charm.

my question is this....does mac os x 10.4.2 support the creative extigy usb sound device..??

TIA for any info on this...:)

Creative products have typically been "Windoze Only" devices. There is no mention (none, zip, nada, zero) of the Mac or support for the Mac platform on Creative's website. Consider yourself lucky if you were able to get this to work at all. It might be helpful if you were to post information on exactly how you got it working and which driver you are using....others might be interested.

I did find and use the ASIO 1.0.9 sound driver..which worked in a limited fashion...yes sound came out...but you could not access any of the cool extigy affects, volume controls...which meant that you got sound...but not as loud or vibrant as from a windows macine..:(

and after updating to 10.4.3 the driver stopped working altogether.....so now I'm in search of a new sound solution...and I came across the m-audio's sonica theater...but just cannot find anyone local who is selling it...:(

I just plugged mine in. I'd had it plugged into my linux box for a few years. Anyhow. Go to your Sound control panel. Choose the Output tab. Shazam.

I'm now diagnosing a strange USB bandwidth issue (that's about all I can ascribe it to) an odd clicking and popping, seems like the mac is having problems sending signal to the device. Probably an easy fix.
