Power Mac G4 Quicksilver 2001 + Sonnet Duet 1.8GHz + Nap Mode
I have a Sonnet upgrade - processor card with two G4 1.8 GHz. I tested Nap Mode function by CHUD Tools v.3.5.2 - Hardware.prefpane utility. And when i enabled Nap i have a power failure some times. Nap mode works great, but sometimes my Power Mac just go to shutdown without prompt like if i pulled out power cord. If i disable Nap mode - than all works without any issues. But in Nap mode radiator on processors was a significantly COOLER than with disabled nap. Any suggestions about this problem?? Incorrect commands in Power Management Unit from Hardware utility?? Or something... At this time i using Mac OS X 10.4.11.

CHUD v 4.x doesn't have the Nap mode support for G4's. The
last version to support the option was 3.5.2.
I would contact Sonnet regarding the issue, but my feeling is that it may be a processor version issue, 7455 vs. 7447.
Oops- caught my typo-
"some G4's" was what was meant- and the biggest portion of the some G4's is the MDD group. Having a hard time finding reports from QS users...
Thanks for the additional info (and pointing out the ommision in doing so)!
CHUD Tools v.4.x.x have a limited Nap supply only for Single processors not for Dual G4. I didn't understand why... I have only one theory about this problem. Sonnet card didn't uses any external power molex for parallel powering like GigaDesigns cards that haves CPU Director and proprietary software power management. And bigger thing - Sonnet didn't include with processor on disk any software to do that power management (dynamic downing frequencies for G4). So my conclusion the problem may be with stock PSU that didn't support well dynamic power dissipation. Its good work with lowering frequencies but when need a full power - we have a fast jump to more dissipating which PSU doing worse. On summer i'll by Nextro PSU 460W for my QS and will test this issue.
Ok. The problem solved. I just installed new PSU (ATX Thermaltake 500W), resolder some pins - and voila! Fully forks without freezes, sudden shutdowns with enabled Nap Mode. Everything is good.
