flying spaces

i like the concept of spaces, but sometimes when i am working in one space suddenly the screen toggles to a different one. also, sometimes when i toggle to a new space, it immediately goes back to teh previous space, before i can do anything. is this a spaces problem or something i'm doing wrong?

No, I've seen this when using 10.5.2

I switched apps (and therefore spaces) and then one of the apps in another space popped up a message or something (grabbed focus). I watched spaces shift left-right-left-right-left in rapid succession as the two apps dueled for the focus.

It is an oddity I have seen only once - but it was very slick and fast!

The strange behavior of Spaces changing the space on its own is not eliminated in 10.5.2, it is greatly reduced. I’ve only had it occur 2 or 3 times in the last few weeks. Before 10.5.2 it occurred several times per day.

When you do update, many people have strongly recommended on this forum, to use the Combo Update to prevent introducing any new problems. It can be found at:

It is commonly recommended also that a Repair Permissions and Repair Disk are run from Disk Utilities before and after the update.
