When does new user get new minutes from ATT

I bought the iPhone a few weeks ago... on Feb 8. It is March 1st today. Shouldn't I be getting a fresh set of 450 minuets? I checked my minutes (clicked the "show my minutes" button in Settings-->Phone--> ATT Services) and it shows 332... which is about right (I don't use it that much obviously.)

When do I get my new minutes? Not the first of the month?

Thanks,

You get your new minutes when you new month starts. This could be any day of the month. Look at your bill to see what day your billing cycle starts on.

I've yet to get a bill. So it is done on a billing date? What if my bill date in the 22nd. I have to conserve my mins until then, so I don't go over the limit and get charged? That would be 3 weeks of Feb. and 3 weeks of March. Six weeks on the original 450 mins. Is that right?

If I call ATT will they have billing info? (Will I get someone who speaks English?)

Thanks,

Yes

Yes, though it is unlikely that the bill date would be that late. When did you sign up for the account?

Yes, you will get both.

Log into your account on http://www.wireless.att.com/

It will show when your bill is due, and when your billing cycle ends. There is some variation on when billing cycles end.

Hope this helps,

Hmm. They have an online account for me? I don't have an ATT account number or anything. I guess it will come with bill. I did the activation on Feb 8 when I brought the new phone home, got a new phone number... whole thing took like all of 2 minutes (credit check?) and it all just worked. (Love it!) I hope I don't have to wait another 4 weeks for new minutes!

Thanks folks.

al1776,

For example, my personal account's billing cycle ends on the 3rd-5th (it has varied a little), and my bill is usually due by the 22nd or 23rd. Both dates show up on http://www.wireless.att.com/ when I log in to manage my account.

The first bill will be larger than normal, since it will have the activation fee, partial month, and billed for the first full month.

Hope this helps,

Nathan C.

If you don't yet have an online account with AT&T you can set one up very easily on their website in a couple minutes. Just put in your mobile number and it will prompt you to complete some information and then your good to go. Since you signed up on the 8th your billing cycle will fall some where around that date each month. Your first month will be pro-rated for partial service you receive, as well as the activation fee, and the entire bill for the next full month.

I signed up on the 5th of a month and my cycle is on the 5th of each month. From AT&T you can also pay your bill online, the only thing you can't do is manage your account features for the iphone plan. You have to have AT&T do that for you, they tell me you can do from itunes but I have not looked very hard to see how to do it.

OK folks. Thank you ALL. This board is great. I went to the ATT site and registered. Fast and easy. It says my bill date is 3-2-2008. So should I expect them to give me 450 minutes tomorrow (March 2)? Will my current minutes roll or do I lose those in first month?

Note: Not complaining... just trying to comprehend the process. This is my first time with rollover mins. Previous phone was Verizon and I didn't have rollovers.

Thanks,
Al

If your first month is a partial month, those minutes don't rollover.

Although it sounds like your usage patterns are about like mine. On the 450 minute plan, I am up to nearly 2000 rollover minutes since July 25.

I signed up on Feb 8th and if my bill date is March 2, that makes it a partial month. So now you are saying I won't get my 300+ left over minutes tomorrow? Not a big deal.... although I think they should pro-rate it and give me some of them... perhaps subtract the first 8 days worth of minutes. 450 / 29 days in Feb = 15 mins a day. So they should subtract 8 x 15= 120 from what I have left 320-120 = 200 and credit me with them... but I doubt they are that sophisticated. However, that would be the most fair way to do it.
