error code 0x8002006e burn issue

Media issues were mentioned further up, but he mentioned he was also having problems with his machine freezing as well.

Same problem here. With Verbatim DVD+R and Plextor DVD-R

Unfortunatley neither clearing the finder.plist nor resetting the Parameter RAM did help. 😟

I burned a DVD+R DL on Saturday at 4x speed which failed the verification. I then burned another at 2.4x and this passed OK. Both are Verbatim disks. I downloaded two file comparison programs and after copying both disks to my HD I compared the contents of the copies and found no differences with either program. I then altered two pixels in one image file--a jpeg--that was in one of the copied sets and the file comparison programs found the altered image file.

Thus, from now on I will burn DL's at slow speed and if one fails verification I will compare the contents of the disk with the originals using a file comparison program.

did apple sneak in some sort of firmware that killed dvd disk burning? It seems like they might have. My DVD burner worked perfectly until some software updates. What is going on here?!?!?!?

NO, for me it was actually some bad preferences. So I'll kindly put my foot in my mouth, now.

I'm getting this problem with my mac i tried an extranel dvd burner and it is working so just try and get your drive replaced

I'm having the same problem with all type of errors mentioned in this trail. I'm running on iMAC G5 20" 2Ghz. Waste 3 Fuji, 3 Verbatim and 3 Memorex all +R DL. I can't believe Apple is unable to fix it. Seems this is not the top priority bug for them. Came on Apple, it's more than time to solve this problem. The customers are crazy already. We need an answer for this problem soon.

Just a reminder that this is a user to user forum and as such no Apple answers will be posted here, just suggestions from your fellow users.

If you're still under warranty or AppleCare and none of the suggestions above have worked, nor has blowing off the drive lens with a blast of compressed air, certainly schedule an appointment with your local Apple service agent or call AppleCare directly and log an issue.

Keeping in mind the fact that this is a user forum, it would seem by now that Apple would have provided someone with an answer by now.

Many of the previous posters have likely gone the Google route already, have tried the techniques listed- and like myself, still have this problem.

I too wish that Apple would address the matter responsibly. The $249 service plan seems a bit steep to me. I'm quick enough to be able to handle most issues on my own, or with the help of google. In this instance, nothing is working. I attempted to submit a service request online, but that was no good, since the warranty on this MacBook was only valid for 90 days. Also, bugreport.apple.com didn't work either.

There are now 2 100pack spindles of CDs & DVDs on a shelf behind me. At one time, this very brand worked - both Sony. CD-R and DVD-R. I bought in small quantities because of this error, the Sony discs worked fine- for awhile. The problem seems to vary from batch to batch and from brand to brand. Those "bad" Sony discs are not defective at all- they work in my other Mac, on my PC and on my external burner.

This problem is an Apple issue. Suggesting we flush out various files & memory is not a solution. The finder.plist deletion worked for me once, as did the restarting the finder.

So with the realization that Apple will not be addressing this widespread issue (Google returns reports of this error in French and German by the way.. it is widespread), what has everyone done?

I'm considering buying something to replace the SuperDrive- but what if it's Firmware?

As a professional in the photo industry, I'll need to do something. Due to all the software and workflow I have developed suitable for a Mac environment- I suppose I'm forced, in a way, to stick with Apple. Though I'm not ever so quick to tell others of how reliable they are these days. This experience is proof.

What a disappointment. And I'm out a few dozen dollars as well, trying this and that brand of disc in hopes of finding something that my (typical) over-hyped Apple product can make use of.

Been trying to get answers from apple about the burning error (0x8002006e) - There solution is to change the burner itself - What a waste.... We all know by now that this is a software problem. Can anybody prove me wrong? There' are about 1000 posts about this problem and nobody's come up with something at apple - I've been telling everyone how Mac's are the great and all, but feel I can't anymore - Should of bought an ASUS... Did I really say that? I'm in despear!

Have you tried deleting all of your non-os preferences? I did this and it fixed this specific problem.

The easiest way to test your theory is to use Boot Camp to install a native copy of Windows on your machine.

If Windows can burn discs, it may be a software issue.

If Windows fails as well, it's the drive or the type of media you're using.

One thing to remember is, for example, "Sony" or "Fuji" CD or DVD blanks are actually manufactured on a contract basis by a wide variety of different vendors; that's why depending on the age of the blanks you can find they are made in Taiwan, Japan or various other countries but are the same "brand."

Another verbatim cd down the drain. I'm collecting all my cd's to send them to apple. You should all do the same. Mayby the'll come up with something once their offices are filled with unusable blank CD'S and DVD'S.

On another note. Yes it works if you install windows on you MAC - but wasn't getting rid of windows the incentive that made me buy a Mac in the first place! It even burn cd's if you go back to 10.4 or 10.4.1.1...

My last resort is now to bring my computer back to the apple store and change the drive - bet you I'll have the same problems pretty soon....
