Q: error code 0x8002006e burn issue

Solution

Just change another USB 3.0 line shipped with WD passport hard drive.

Cause

Because the manufacturer's standard of USB 3.0 line is higher than ever.

Low quality of line may cause the unstable communication.

I had this problem and the way i solved it was that i downloaded a third party software from CNet called 'Express Burn' which is free and legal. I would recommend this software as it helped me alot.

I'm on a mac Pro tower with an internal LG burner that has written faultlessly for 4/5 years, CDs DVDs but choked today on my first Bluray with error code whatever !! I'm editing with Encore CS5. It's a doddle to work with but no idea how to get a usable Bluray out of it. I even built an ISO and tried to burn it in encore and in the finder, both failed and in toast titanium. Toast wouldn't recognize encores ISO file, said it was 'unsupported'. I don't think it's the burner or the media. Maybe its one of the reasons Adobe dropped encore. But then folks are getting these error codes burning CDs and DVDs so I'm stumped. Express burner doesn't do Bluray. But I don't think it's any of the third party burners I do think it's an apple problem. The problem turns up with any number of burners, media, etc.

After burning about 15 copies of the same disk on the same Memorex DVD +R disks I started getting this error. I tried the easiest fix I saw in this thread first - relaunching Finder - and it worked after the 2nd time I relaunched it. Now it seems to be working fine. I've done 9 more disks (all at 8x) with no issues.

OK an update after exhaustive trawling here. I bought an optical drive cleaning disc, ran it, then trashed my finder prefs and Toast prefs and my LG burner successfully burned my first beautiful Bluray. No error codes but there is a bugbear, Toast is limited and my Bluray project had a menu track, Toast stripped it out of the project and just burned my main movie. But hey I now know everything else is working.

Well, some good news is good news anyway, thanks for the report.

More good news lads. After building a new iso as described above and getting toast to burn a successful disc I went back to encore, opened the new iso, popped a disc in and my old LG burner spat a disc out in 7 minutes. No error codes. I was sceptical, 7 minutes ??? But it's flawless, the whole menu works perfectly no glitches, the picture quality is dreamy. Once I'd popped the disc in I stared at it, never touched the mouse, left it alone.  So when I popped it in the sony bluray player it insisted on playing it at 1920x108050i  . In my ignorance I expected Bluray to be progressive and I'd editied my project in FCP as 1920x1080 25p. it seems Blurays are progressive until you get to 1920x1080 then they are expected to be interlaced. But the player played it faultlessly even the fast motion clips.

For what it's worth, I had same problem when trying to burn photos to CD. Transpires I had saved  some to PSD from Photoshop instead of to Jpeg. Once resaved as jpegs did burn successfully.

I MIGHT HAVE  SOLUTION    

I have had the same error message recently. I have read a few different forums and of course couldn't find a definite solution. So I tried a few things.

1. Ran First Aid in disc utilities

2. Removed a few files and got about 10gb more space.

Now here comes the the solution

3. Instead of "right clicking" the folder (containing photos) that I wanted to burn, then selecting "Burn to disc" I inserted the blank DVD and opened it in Finder, then I opened another Finder window and dragged the folder I wanted to burn onto the DVD. Then I ejected the DVD and it started to burn the files. I changed the burn speed to 4 (instead of 8)

4. I know this doesn't sound like much of a technical solution however, I couldn't burn anything, every time I tried it kept coming up with the error. Now I have burnt four blank DVD-R. I have actually used the DVD's that I was using before when I got the error, so I can confirm it is not a disc problem, it is internal in Mac.

XXXX Whilst typing this I have just burnt another disc without the error coming up.

I downloaded the software and tried to use it to burn a double layer DVD. The software says it cannot recognize the DL media in the drive, either the Mac Pro internal drive, or the external BluRay drive. The express burn software did not seem to work any better than the Apple OS.
