error 2131....cannot burn discs

I am having exactly the same problem and would like to know how to solve it as the help pages for burning discs are all useless

Having the same problem. I have burned hundreds of CD's before. I get error 4450. Help!

Go to the Apple website in the iTunes section and download the latest iTunes proggy to your 'My Documents'.

Then within 'My Documents' Double click the proggy icon. It will then identify that you have already installed the latest version of iTunes and it will give you the option to 'Repair'

Click that and see what happens.

I have the same frustrating problem with my new Inspiron 530 running Windows XP and a TSST H653B DVD + RW Burner.

Reloaded itunes several times, installed all recommended Dell drivers and fixes and nothing works. My old Dell machine worked fine and my 600+ tunes are now unavailable to me for burning.

Roxio's drag and drop almost worked. When trying to finalize the burn and eject the disk everything locked up, cpu, DVD drawer, Roxio, itunes, etc. Had to do a hard shut down and reboot to extract the disk.

Help..any ideas out there? I am not alone with this issue and it doesn't seem to be limited to my OS or burner.

My case has been resolved, at least for now: After negotiating Dell's horrible customer service maze and spending more than four hours waiting on hold and getting cut off and then doing their suggested diagnostics, here's the verdict:

Dell is replacing my DVD burner as defective. This may or may not solve my iTunes 2131 error message problem.

Replacing the DVD burner did not work. Dell then suggested reinstalling XP. That was a huge mistake and took 8 hours without solving the original problem at all. It created several other problems.

I am unable to burn DVDs from iTunes or from anywhere. The CD Writing Wizard crashes after burning and will not complete the process.

Here's how I finally solved the problem by myself:

I went to my local retailer and bought a different brand of discs. I purchased a package of 50 TDK CD-R 52X discs for twenty-bucks. I had been using the Memorex brand.

I have been on the phone and email and on-line chats with Dell for many hours during the past week. Dell replaced the CD Burner (with a "refurbished unit!?)and because that didn't work,told me to reinstall XP, which was very bad advice for my "new" computer.

Nobody I communicated with ever suggested trying another Brand of recordable discs.

Very poor customer service, in my opinion.

EUREKA for CD not burning on iTunes! For me after spending hours trying to solve this issue, I went to
Edit (on iTunes), Preferences, Advanced, Burning and changed to "Audio" CD. I felt pretty stupid. Somehow the setting got changed. Hope it might work for your.

Anyone with Dell Inspiron laptop with a Toshiba CD/DVD TS-L632H slim 8x DVD+/-RW may have a problem burning disks from iTunes. Mine was flakey. There is a critical firmware update here:

I dont have a dell or a toshiba, I have a HP an I just bought a Sont External DVD Burner and it is giving me the dam 2131 Error!!!!!!! Help pleasE!!!!!
