Universal Dock Remote menu button not working

I have my Nano 3g connected to Apple's Universal Dock w/ Remote and I'm trying to figure out why the remote's menu button doesn't function. I'm able to control my Nano using the play/pause, prev, next, +, - while playing music but the menu key does nothing. Also, when in the menu system (I hit it manually on my iPod), the prev, next, +, - buttons don't allow me navigate the menu.

Any ideas?

Same here, 'menu' button is dead. What a dissapointment. It's really is a mixed bag, because even though I'm able to use cover flow with the remote using the back/forward buttons on the remote (iPod Classic), I'm not able to browse movies or playlists etc...

The remote's menu button has no function with the Universal Dock. Apple uses the same remote for their computers, Apple TV and the Universal Dock. The menu button only works when you're using it with a computer or Apple TV. Sorry.

That seems like a bit of a waste. Why wouldn't they allow me to use all the buttons available to control all aspects of my iPod.

I am very impressed with the quality and selection of accessories until I got the Universal Dock with a remote. The remote has very limited functionality and is an extreme disappointment. I also got the composite video cable. I wish the contents listed the power adapter. I also bought without realizing the cable came with one.

Can anyone confirm what Meg said about the remote? Is it true that the menu key doesn't work with iPods?

No, the Universal dock's remote's menu button does not work when you are using it with your ipod.
