If your email account provider does not have an authenticated SMTP server, you will have problems.
Most internet service providers block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network (or not provided by the internet service provider being used for your internet connection) unless the SMTP server is authenticated. This restriction is in place as part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain. We can thank the low life spammers for this.
I access my .Mac account as my primary personal email account and a business POP account with my iPhone. Both have an authenticated SMTP server and I have no problems sending with either account.
Thank you for responding, but these comments do not help me, as they are mostly comprised of computer jargon I do not understand. I'm looking for a solution for the chartermi.net account issue with sending email.
Is chartermi.net also your internet service provider - the company that you pay and use for your internet access at home?
If yes, you need to call chartermi.net and ask them if they provide a way to send messages with their email account when you are not connected to the internet with chartermi.net - such as when using the EDGE network for your internet connection and access.
If you do not understand this or put this way, you will have a very difficult time getting any help here.
Yes, Charter Communications provides us with hi-speed internet, wi-fi, cable, etc.
I'll see if I can contact them (I've noticed from other posts that their customer service is shoddy) and try to throw in the information you've given me.
Thank you - I do appreciate it. Just frustrated! 😟
