D-link DPR 1260 Print Server nightmare

I have a D-link DPR 1260 print server connected via ethernet to my network. I have set it up so I can print to an Epson Picturemate240 from a PC running XP. This works fine.

I have read all the posts everywhere on the DPR 1260 and so far nothing can make it print from the imac, running Leopard. I can add the printer using LPD and the print servers ip address and printer queue name but nothing happens.

I get the following error /usr/libexec/cups/filter/rastertogutenprint.5.1 failed, does this mean there is a problem with the mac before to gets to the print server?

If I cannot solve this problem now it is going in the bin!

I have not attempted to set it up wirelessly yet as there is no point unless I can print from a Mac.

Imac 24, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Thanks for the info Greg

I reset the printing system but I still get the same error message. I tried using HP and LPD but still no luck.

If I connect the printer directly to the mac I can print fine and I have two other network printers connected directly to the network which work fine. It is only when I connect a printer to the print server that it goes wrong.

any other ideas?

Don't have that print server to experiment with - sorry.

But wait ...
Just to be sure - is the print server IP address in the same subnet as the computers? That would be (usually), first 3 parts of IP address identical, last part different.

Also - is that the only Gutenprint driver you have tried? Try hooking up by USB again and this time select the Gutenprint driver to test it.
