Error Msg on PDF Export

I am working on a 70+ page document in pages. Many pages have sizeable images on them 1 - 2 Mb and up to 5 images per page. When I try to export it as a PDF using the "Best" setting, this is a msg I frequently get:

"There was an error processing a page. There was an error while trying to parse an image."

Is my project too large? Can I chop it into pieces and only export part of it at one time?

Thanks.

Morse,

We can't possibly know from here whether your file is too large or not. There are no theoretical limits on file size, but there are some practical ones, which depend on your available RAM and hard disk space availability.

Having said that, the content of the error message sounds more like one of your images is corrupt. And, given the page count of your document, it's going to take some time to find. Here's how I'd do it: I'd start with pages 1 through 35, and pull out the images. Then I'd try to save to PDF again. If you get the same error message, chances are pretty good the corrupt image is in the second half of the document. If the error message goes away, it looks like the corrupt image is in the first half. If that's the case, add back half of the images you pulled out. Keep doing this until you narrow down the culprit.

Well, I'm back with this same project and more problems. The finished document size is 76 pages totaling 147Mb as exported as a "best" pdf. When I try to open the doc in Acrobat Prof, it gives me the "unable to parse some images" msg. When I open it in Adobe Reader v.8 it opens and looks fine. My printer tells me that he can also see all the pages properly on his screen, but that some of the layered images in the rear of the document are not recognized by the printer and just disappear.
Has anyone had this happen? I appreciate all suggestions!

"There was an error processing a page. There was an error while trying to parse an image."

Open your images in your image editor of choice and resave to restructure the image files. Take care to set up your image editor so that embedded ICC profiles are preserved (and while you are at it check that you embed an ICC profile for images that have none embedded).
