audio jack output only mono?

No, I hear it as stereo. Are you sure your headphone jack is fully seated? That could cause it to be mono also.

Stereo here too. The space around the jack might not leave enough room for all plugs.

Depending upon which headset you are using and the 'jack' size, you may need to invest in an 'extension' to fit the jack all of the way into the output. Some have plastic that prevent complete insertion. If you purchase the extension that is made for the iPhone, it will fit your MBA.

I'm having mono output too since i installed logic express this morning... and it's not the speakers, I tested them.

did the output become stereo after removing the audio software?

got it back in stereo after a logoff...
