Can I open the CD drive with a keyboard shortcut?

I'm using my G4 MDD as an "encoder". As such it has no display or keyboard and just sits under the desk.

I access the computer using screen sharing from my iMac (Leopard), but am trying to install some software on the G4. The software will not install over a network so I have to physically put the CD into the drive. My problem is, I can't open the drive with a keyboard being attached.

Does anyone know a way i can open the drive whilst being connect via the network?

Holding F12 will open a CD/DVD drive tray, but whether or not this will work over the network Im really uncertain. Somehow I doubt it though.

Use the Terminal commands:

man drutil
drutil eject
drutil tray open
drutil tray close

Does adding the Eject Menu to the menu bar work?

Thanks for all the ideas but a few hours later I managed to solve it.

I opened iTunes (all via Screen Sharing) and used the eject button at the bottom of the iTunes window.
