I have a brand new MBP and have noticed something strange when scrolling using the trackpad (two finger gesture)...when scrolling in Safari text will become distorted. For example, on this board here, if I scroll the page using the trackpad, some lines of text will become distorted and almost unreadable. If I scroll past it and then return, sometimes the text returns to normal. Anyway, it happens a lot but only when scrolling using the trackpad. If I use the arrow keys I do not have this problem. Anyone else see this? If not, can you give it a test and report back?
Call Apple Care. I also have the new MBP and noticed the same thing happening. I called Apple Care, they acted like they had never had that happen before. I tried to make it do it when I called them, but it wouldn't do. Since my call it has never done it again.
Also, I have noticed videos, YouTube, my local weather radar, pretty much anything that is not .mov will have a flicker of white patches on and off (small sized white boxes) while playing. It is annoying to say the least. I think this is some sort of video card or driver issue. I'll give them a call and see what they say.
for most people that have this isnt it limited to safari? it may be an issue with code coming into safari seeing as some sites don't work well on certain browsers
Nothing helpful to add, just that I have the same problem. I was wondering if it was related to the multi-touch functions, or have people had problems on the previous generation MBPs? What about on the Air?
Setting the scrolling speed to the slowest option does seem to help.
Yeah, it seems to be most noticeable with Safari due to Safari's smooth scrolling, but from testing with other browsers it doesn't seem to be a rendering issue.
Good call on the scrolling speed, that does make a difference. I don't believe my MBP has the multi-touch trackpad, but I don't know how to figure out what trackpad (make) I have.
I have exactly the same problem on a new 15" MBP when two-finger scrolling. The problem is seen most often in Safari, but also occurs in Mail. The problem is intermittent and often goes away temporarily after logout or reboot. Someone in another thread recommended trashing system and finder preferences. Although this caused the symptoms to disappear temporarily, they soon returned.
I have the choppy scrolling problem in Finder and Mail and also in Mail the row text gets compressed like when you set the leading too short in a block of text Photoshop.
After a two hour conversation with applecare I had this issue accelerated to the "engineers". They were able to duplicate it on another machine, and I received a call back two days later from the applecare rep saying they believe it is an Nvidia driver issue, with no eta or possibility of a fix.
