Unable to login to Hotmail

I bought my iMac 2.0Ghz last week. I'm unable to login to hotmail to check my email but i could check through other pcs or macs. So I think it's definitely something wrong with my imac. everytime I login to hotmail.com, this error will pop out: "you window ID cant be found, please login other site". I just dont understand.

So I reset the safari setting as in clearing up all the history. Then I could login to hotmail.com. However, if I restart or shut it down and turn it on, the same problem happened again, I cant login to hotmail.com

Hey guys please help me out here? I just don't know what's wrong with my brand new iMac. Should send it back to the store or is there something I change the setting to cure this?

Rather than using web based mail why don't you use the Mail, it came with your iMac. It should work fine, simply follow the instructions for setting up your Hotmail account. If you have difficulty locating the instructions in the Mail tool, click on the Help menu and search for "set up account." The instructions are pretty simple and you should be up and running in 5 minutes or less.

Try deleting the Safari preference file. Open a Finder window and type, safari.plist into the search box. Locate the file >apple.com.safari.plist<, delete it and restart your computer. This should solve your problem.

I've never seen that error before do you have Parental controls enabled or something? Does Safari ask you for a keychain password?

Thanks very much guys for the help... I'm sure that u guys can login to hotmail.com, right? I just would like to make sure that my iMac is totally fine. About the mail application, I already setup my .mac account. How can re-create a hotmail acc under the application? I cant seem to find the solution. Furthermore, regarding the safari.plist, I tried search under finder but unable to find the file. And I also never setup any parental control.

It's more than likely just a software issue. I can sign into Hotmail just fine with Safari but I use Firefox primarily. It's not a fix for your Safari but you can give Firefox a try and see if you have the same problem. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/

I tried to login with firefox. It works fine at the moment. I will try once again tomorrow. Another question, when I click on the mail icon on my MSN messenger application, it always uses safari to login hotmail. I just would like to know that can I change it to firefox as the primary application? How do I change it?

I have the same problem. With my Imac I do two things. I quit and restart Safari. Or I go to a couple of different websites until MSN doesn't recognize the apple compluter and lets me in (just kidding). I have had my Imac and MacBook for over a year and never had the problem until recently.

About creating a new mail account for mail application:

Step 1: I click "File" --> "Add Account"
Step 2: Type in my hotmail address, password and full name
Step 3: Title> Incoming mail server:
-What should I select for account type? (POP, IMAP or Exchange?)
-What should I type in under "Description" and "Incoming Mail Server"?

First question: Open Safari go to Safari/Preferences under General change the Default Web Browser to Firefox.

You cannot set up Hotmail as a pop/imap/or exchange account. Hotmail is webmail so generally you must go to the website to check it. However if you were to setup a .mac account or some other email account that will work as pop or imap, then you can setup Hotmail to forward email to that account.
