Function problems on XP!

i just installed XP on my macbook and it worked perfectly fine for the first 3 hours. i was in love with how i was using XP with the macbook keyboard functions. and then all of a sudden the F1-F12 keys began to act as really F1-F12 keys! it stopped using the volume change and the brightness level wasn't working anymore. instead it converted to the keyboard of a windows! the F11 (lower volume) was making the webpage fullscreen instead of lowering the volume!

I used the boot camp panel and it didn't matter if i checked the box that lets you use F1-F12 functions at all. It still used the F1-F12 functions instead of mac software functions.

Lets doublecheck something.
1) Go to START button and hit ENTER
2) Choose RUN and hit ENTER
3) Type MSCONFIG in the window that pops up and hit OK
4) A System Configuration Utility windows will pop up.
5) Choose the STARTUP Tab
6) Make sure that there is a checkmark next to KBDMGR
7) Hit OK and that window should close

Reboot and see if the Fn function along with the F keys works as you intended.

I've had the same experience with the keyboard issues with my new MacBook Pro running Win XP Pro-Srvc Pk 2. I tried a system restore to a time prior to the last round of Windows updates and was able to restore functionality to the keys to control hardware. Attempted to reload Win updates and lost functionality again. Tried both methods of fixes noted in the posts on this problem but did not have the same results--functionality of hardware control keys remains disabled.

Any further suggestions on this problem?

None of my fn buttons are working ether (they did but not now).
I installed SP3 and some time then i think it happened, then i uninstalled SP3, but still they didn't work so then i do a repair and update of bootcamp drivers, after restart still nothing.
I also uninstaled bootcamp and intaled it again, still nothing.
I uninstalled the drivers for the keyboard too but that didn't work ether.
(using XP Pro SP2 now)
I went into MSCONFIG and looked for "KBDMGR" but I can't find it, how can i get it back?
I also have noticed that the bootcamp icon that used to be in the taskbar is gone (the one where you can change the brightness of the screen and select whether to boot mac os windows...) and the normal volume controller from windows is gone from the task bar too, i can only use the realtek one to adjust my volume now.

Anyone have any ideas??

Curse XP and it's problems.
I did some googleling and found where the KBDMGR.exe file was stored and then manuly opened it, then my "fn" buttons startted to work again.

But my trackpad has died now 😟 (after i messed around with the drivers it didn't want to install it again)

So I have given up, and backed everything up and will start with a nice clean install of XP.
