MacBook White Screen

Ok I turned on my computer today and the screen on my MacBook is white. I hear it start up but the screen never changes it just stays white. I hooked up my MacBook to my 20 inch Cinema Display the Cinema Display works but the MacBook stays white. In the Display options I do NOT have it set to mirror so if I move my mouse over to the MacBook screen it disappears then will reappear when i bring it back to the cinema display. The OS is running fine as far as I can tell, I just cant see it on my MacBook screen. Any help?

I hit the same, exact same, problem yesterday with my core2duo pre- santarosa macbook. None of the suggestions (PRAM reset..) work.

Applecare tells me my phone in warranty has expired and I need to extend it by 2 years to avail support over the phone. Guess I'll need to take it to the store 😟 - have~3months left on the hardware warranty.

@Windoodoo : did you figure out a solution to the problem yet ? any clues will be a big help before I drive to the store.

Tell me if this works for you...I can get my screen to work by doing a little trick, but it's not practical...

If you take your left thumb and pointer finger, and almost bend the plastic towards the top-left corner, I can get a picture on the macbook...I know you don't quite under stand what I'm saying, but it's like...if I push the front of the plastic inwards, and the backside of the plastic inwards, I can get a picture on the macbook (sorry, it's really confusing what I said, I know)

Wind, what did you do/say when you went down to the store? I was told they had never seen anything like it and they just wanted me to send it in to Apple...I got a call back form the store manager two days later saying he was sorry for the bad time I had (it was my 2nd time down there, and it's a 2-hour drive one way) and he would give me a discount...and he did no such thing, in fact, he quoted me a price higher than what the "Genius" quoted me. Here are pics, before the "pinching", and after:

So, I turned it into the Apple store last week. I got a call from Apple support saying that my laptop needed a new LCD and it would cost $750 or such. Its still on the 1 year warranty and they claim that it was dropped and that caused the LCD to b0rk! There was a small bump next to the IR sensor that happened like 5 months ago and they are bringing it up as a warranty breaker 😟 The support person suggested that I look for cheaper alternatives outside of Apple's. I see that a LCD for the macbook costs around $200.

@Bthumme : I was also told that they had never heard of/seen such a problem. I am going to get mine back from Apple this week and will try your pinching solution ? Either way, it appears like I need to replace the LCD ...
