Keyboard shortcuts for bulleted & numbered lists?

Just made the move from the other operating system 🙂 and getting to grips with iWork.

One thing I'm really missing a lot is a keyboard shortcut for applying either bulleted or numbered lists. There wasn't one in Word either, but it was easy enough to assign.

I have managed to assign this function in the Mail application, but cannot find a way to do it in Pages. Surely I can't have to resort to clicking my mouse every time I want to bullet (or un-bullet) a list?

Obviously there's Option-8 to type a bullet by hand, but applying lists doesn't seem possible with the keyboard.

Any tips?

You can do this by assigning a hot key to the style, actually. In the *Styles Drawer* (Shift-Command-T), mouse over any bulleted/numbered lists and click on the down-pointing triagle on the right. Select *Hot Key>(your preferred key)*.

The next time you want to apply the style, select the text, and press the assigned hot key and you will get the result you want. (If you're using MacBook/MacBook Pro, you'd need to press Fn with the hot key if you're assigning to prebuilt hot keys.)

You don't have to do any of that. For numbered lists, just type '1.', then tab, then the text, then hit return. Pages recognises you're typing a list and goes to '2.' automatically. The same thing works for using '*' or '-' for bullets. Not sure how you get the little blob thing though.

If you want to indent further - ie have levels of lists - then hit tab after return and you'll go in a level. Good for outlining. (and shift tab takes you back up a level).
