FA-101 difficulties

My new Edirol FA-101 is exhibiting some strange behaviour. In device listings (eg sound prefs) it shows as 'EDIROL FA-101 (0755)', and in some applications it doesn't get listed at all. in AM setup in has several channels recognised but inactive/greyed out, and it is not properly usable in Garage Band

The '0755' suggests to me that it may have something to do with Unix file permissions, but I'm at a loss as to where to look

Mac mini G4, Mac OS X (10.5.2), Edirol FA-101

Have you installed the latest GarageBand update?

I'm using Garage Band 3.05, not 4. In any event it wouldn't solve problems I have with other software, or the strange "(0755)" thing I get across all applications.

I see that someone (probably you) posted on the Edirol site with the same problem.

In that nobody else seems so far to have this problem, have you considered returning it under warranty?

Hi Daddy Paycheck, thankyou for your suggestion, but I'll think I'll give a little more than 36 hours. 😉 I shall also try GB 4
