Time Capsule Solid Amber light but Green in Airport Utility

Just received TC, setup no problem and using second (original) AE to extend network via WDS. TC is currently doing first backup via Ethernet but the unit has a solid amber light, the original AE that is extending the network has a solid green light. Anyone else have a working TC with solid amber light?

Hi Richard, I replaced my AE with a TC and appear to be having the same or similar symptom as you described - a solid amber light. Internet access is OK. Time Machine backup seems to work, although I haven't allowed it to complete - it got about half-way. I am wondering if the amber light will turn green after the first successful Time Machine backup. Upgraded to Airport Utility 7.3.2, but the amber light persists. Spoke to Apple Support a couple of times, stepped through a couple of tweaks in Airport Utility, still the amber light glows solid. I am faced with what appears to be the only thing left to do - reset TC. Did you manage to get your light to turn green, and if so, how? regards Steven.

Same problem here. Everything works... but the light on the Time Capsule won't turn green. It shows as green in Airport Utility... but it's not green on the Time Capsule itself. I also have an Airport Express that is not serving only as a print server / itunes streamer. I switched the base station to be the TC... but again... the light won't turn green. Also, when I tried "Identity..." under the Base Station menu... it says the Base Station light is now flashing amber. Ummmm... nope. No flashing lights on either device. I'm at a loss. I guess I shouldn't worry about it since everything works... but it is perplexing and annoying.

I'm convinced this is a hardware problem with the light itself. When I select "Identify..." under the Base Station menu... if I look closely... I can see that the light is in fact flashing... but it's not flashing green and amber... it's flashing amber and brighter amber. So it seems the green LED is just broken. That explains why the software shows a green light (even tho' it's amber) and why the TC works perfectly otherwise. I just bought it tonight at Best Buy... haven't put any files on it yet... so I'm going to exchange it tomorrow and see what happens.
