You can't use the mask function to mask a movie, but if you have a simple background, you should be able to draw an shape in such a way that the shape matches the background colors and looks like the movie is masked. Here's a movie I created using Keynote. This is full screen images in front of the video playing on the slide, but the same general idea.
This is actually something I am trying to do: have an audio track play all the way through a Keynote presentation. Can you point me in the right direction to see how to do that?
