iPod classic and 10.3.9 again

I'm sorry if this is answered elsewhere - I looked but couldn't see.

In 2007 I bought an 80GB iPod which I've been happily using on 10.3.9 with iTunes 7.2(34), which I keep refusing to upgrade on the grounds that if it ain't broke...

However, 80GB just isn't enough for my music, so I'd like to get a 160GB iPod. Please, does anyone know if I will run into probs with my G4, OS, or iTunes?

You will run into the problem that it won't work. You need at least 10.4.11 to use a Classic.

If you don't want to buy Tiger or Leopard, stay with your 5th Generation.

Thanks for that. I mistakenly thought my current iPod was a Classic 'because' it was 80GB.

Wow, now I understand why everyone is so ticked off. I've been a loving Mac owner for nearly a quarter of a century; these days I swear Apple are trying to turn me against them.
