Re: Using GN6210 Bluetooth Headset

Hello. I just purchased a GN 6210 Bluetooth Wireless headset. Does anyone else have one of these and use it with their iPhone? I was able to successfully pair the headset with the iPhone, but I can't seem to pick up calls or use the headset with the iPhone.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

As an update, I was talking with an employee at the Apple store over the weekend about my bluetooth issue. He told me that when I make a call I should be able to switch between phone, speaker and my bluetooth device. After doing some playing around, I was able to get the audio source screen with the right options to be listed, but I do not know how I did this. It was through some random playing with my bluetooth devide and phone (the speaker/phone button).

Does anyone have a suggestion or recommendation for how I can consistantly switch between my phone and bluetooth head set? How do other people do this, or is it automatic?

Thanks.

Hi, I share in hittlets greif. I too have the GN6210 BT Headset and am having troubles using it with the iPhone v1.1.2-1.1.4. I can successfully pair the headset to the iPhone and, depending on the scenario, have conversations through it.

Here's the scenario that works:
I have iPhone's BT on and the headset paired. The BT symbol on the iPhone screen is gray. If I hold the headset answer button down for 2 seconds, the BT symbol on the iPhone screen turns blue. I'm not sure what this means. Then, if I quickly dial a number, the call will come through the headset and I have the screen to choose whether I want the call to stay on the headset "GN6210" or if I'd rather have it in the "iPhone" or "Speaker". However, if I down dial a number fast enough after the BT symbol turns blue, it turns gray again after a matter of seconds and the call is instead put through the iPhone.

Here's a scenario when it doesn't work:
The 6210 is paired, but the symbol is gray. I have an incoming call. To answer the incoming call, the 6210 wants me to hold the answer button for 2 seconds. As I do this, the iPhone takes a couple seconds while the BT symbol turns blue, iPhone answers the call and quickly disconnects the call and the 6210. The BT symbols turns gray again immediately.

Here's another scenario when it doesn't work:
I have a call on the line through the iPhone. I want to switch it to the 6210 headset, so I use the same answer command by holding the headset "answer" button for 2 seconds. Just like in the previous scenario, the iPhone takes a couple seconds while the BT symbol turns blue, iPhone switches the call to the headset and quickly disconnects the call and the headset while the BT symbols turns gray.

So it appears the only way I can have a normal conversation through the 6210 is if I'm making a call (not answering a call or already on a call), hold the answer button for 2 seconds, wait for the blue symbol, and quickly dial my number.

GN Netcom/JABRA thinks it's an issue with the iPhone not recognizing the BT commands as it will pair and work perfectly with other BT enabled mobile phones I have.

Anyone have any insight into this?
Thanks for you help!

I just got the GN 6210 and have limited experience with it. But the following has worked for me: When I want to make a call on the iphone using the headset, I press the power button (on the headset) for about 1 second, until I hear a tone in the earpiece. That seems to tell the iPhone that the headset is making a call and sets the audio source properly. For the next few minutes the iPhone and headset seem to have a renewed understanding of how to work together, but after I hang up and 5 minutes or so pass, if I want to make another call I must press the power button again (as described above)

I WISH the phone and the headset would just naturally work together without requiring me to fumble around my ears to find the power button.

If you have other observations/tricks, please share.

I don't know much about your specific headset, but maybe I can provide some information that may be of help.

The iPhone won't show any bluetooth symbol if bluetooth is turned off. If you turn it on, then the symbol appears but is gray until you complete the pairing. Once paired, the symbol turns blue.

With my Motorola S9 headset, I turn on bluetooth on the iPhone first. This keeps me from running my battery down when I'm not using bluetooth. Then I power on my S9. It goes into pairing mode and usually pairs within 10 seconds. Once it is paired I'm good to go until I turn the headset off or turn off bluetooth on the iPhone.
