"There is not enough room to take additional pictures. Please delete some

I'm dealing with this same Camera problem now after 2 months of searching for an answer...I get the dreaded "There is not enough room to take additional pictures. Please delete some existing photos." and camera won't work...Question: Has anyone got this fixed using the "resetting/restoring" as it hasn't worked for me OR did they get a new/replacement from Apple and then same problem reoccured when they restored new phone with saved settings in iTunes? My issue is this a hardware (camera failure) or software issue (not reading memory right)? And would the problem show right up again if I got a replacement and saved into ti my saved settings? From one of the threads I have read (never helped or seen the problem myself) but it seemed that one of the images you may be syncing (or have on the camera roll) is corrupt. Then a restore (bringing back the backed up bad image) messes it up again.

The only thing I saw mentioned to try (though never saw the outcome) was to restore without bring in the backup. Thus you will lose notes and settings and such...rest of user content can be synced back. Then when syncing, do a few photos at a time to see if you can find out if it may of been one of the synced photos.

If all this is true with the idea of a corrupt image file...then the issue would be software. If the image got corrupted by the iPhone (pic you took) then could also be bad flash memory spot where it got stored (thus hardware).

I would say try a restore without bringing in a backup (take time to go reset all your settings and WiFi network codes manually). Then sync contacts and music. Use for a while to see if all is good. Then sync photos. Use again for a bit. If problem persists, make appt at Apple Store.

Thanks - but I should have posted I have tried all of this - complete wiped resets and complete wiped restores with no success...now I wondering if I get a new iphone if the same problem will happen if I do restore....is this hardware or software - does anyone know for sure...Tx, JCL

I was having this exact same problem. The only solution I found was in this Apple Discussion thread.

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1323659&tstart=90

iPhoneKaji's reply has been the only one that corrected the problem for me. It deletes all your personal settings. This resets your Phonebook Favorites, Wireless settings, etc.

No data is lost.

Here is iPhoneKaji's solution.
"After trying a million different things the only thing that I found that worked perfectly was to go to Settings --> General --> Reset --> Reset All Settings. Now my camera works perfectly. "

Hope this helps others.

My 8gb phone never been jailbroke and is running 1.1.4 - again this "reset all settings" doesn't fix the camera for me - still same proplem...I'm beginning to think its got to be a hardware issue at this point and go for a replacement phone - my only worry being that the minute I sync a new iphone the problem will return there...JCL

My iPhone says the same thing. Most of the time when I want to take pictures, it says something to the effect of not enough memory, delete some photos so you can take some. I delete some camera photos, and try again, and same error message. I delete all my camera photos, and same error message. I seriously just need to delete my iPhone photo library and upload anew. I have friends who won't buy an iPhone because I'm having so much trouble with mine. Now I'm wondering why I keep the thing.

I had the same problem. My camera was working fine one day and the very next day I tried to take a picture. The camera shutter animation took place then it went black. My phone "reset" and I had to put in my PIN. This time when trying to use the camera I got the error message about not enough room.

I tried resetting via the Settings, General, Reset, Reset All Settings. This didn't help me. I then hooked it up to iTunes and did a Restore. Still no luck. Went to my local Apple store, on a Sunday afternoon, and they were packed.

Monday morning I went to the Apple website and made an appointment to see a Genius (Apple.) He tried the same thing I did by doing a restore via iTunes. No luck. So he gave me a brand new iPhone. The really nice thing about this was in addition to fixing my camera, my speaker on the new phone is much loader - the way I thought it should be.

I started this post and finally had it with this "camera" problem and went to Apple Store and they too replaced the phone on the spot with a "new" serviced iphone....it too now worked perfectly and most importantly - when I restored the phone with the backup I did an hour before the camera "file / camera" problem DID NOT transfer to my new iphone - THANK GOD! So now all is working well and yes my new iphone too is alot louder especially on spoeaker than the previous. I hope apple figures this one out - of course no one at the Apple store had seen this "not enough room..." on iphones that are reset and have no data on them....

2.Delete the DCIM folder, restart, reset the authorization of DCIM and foler inside,restart------it really works sometimes, just sometimes.....
