Airport icon in menu bar disappears when mail is open

The airport icon does not appear in the menu bar when mail is open. Therefore, I am not able to determine how long I have been online. The airport icon does appear in other applications when I am online e.g. Safari.

Hello Slew and welcome to the forums. My quickest guess is that your screen is small -for instance if you have a 12" iBook- and many icons are lined up in the menu bar on the right. Safari's menu is shorter than Mail's. Therefore Mail's menu can be covering the Airport icon on the right.

If this is the case I'd suggest:

1. To change your display resolution to the maximum and...
2. To drag the Airport icon rightwards to a position where it can't be overlapped (to do that you have to hit Command while you click and hold the icon and drag it).
3. You can also remove from the menu bar on the right whatever you think is not very relevant.

Good luck.

George...
