Will the iPhone set itself for daylight savings time? Or do I have to set it ahead?

SimonJester753,

As long as it is set to update automatically in Settings -> General -> Date & Time, it should update when the cell towers in your area update.

Hope this helps,

Nathan C.

There seems to be an issue with AT&T in the southwest today with regards to the change to DST. You can turn off the automatic update to regain/reset to the right time for right now. Later, you can try the automatic setting to see if it has corrected itself. Mine worked fine, but I'm in the central time zone. I would imagine that AT&T is addressing the issue, just unknown how long it will take to fix.

Hope this answers your question.

I have a question that might be stupid...have any of you used the phone on the network before checking the clock? I only ask this because I know that on my ancient not-an-iPhone which is on the Sprint network, the phone clock does not sync until a call is made or received. Until that time, its clock is going by the last sync. I have not gotten a call today, so my phone's clock is still one hour behind. Is there a chance that AT&T works the same way?

Remember there are some locations that do not observe daylight savings time. Make sure the location that you select for the Time Zone does observe it. Also make sure your 'Set Automatically' option is turned on.

Turning the phone off and back on should force it to resync.

That said, all I had to do with mine was unlock it. I had left it on during the time change. If yours is still not updating, contact AT&T.

When you have "Set Automatically" ON, you don't need to choose a time zone. The time zone you chose then is for Calendar only. And, in any case, have mine set to Time Zone: Albuquerque, USA which does observe DST. I've turned my iPhone off and on 2x and still not updating to MDT from MST.

Had to turn off "Set Automatically" and set the time manually.

Will the iPhone set itself for daylight savings time?
