iMac unable to read DVD formatted on PC

I'm new to my iMac and I've searched the forum archives to no avail. Here's the problem.

I'm trying to transfer all of my JPGs from my Dell to my new iMac. The Dell uses a program called Sonic to read and write DVDs. I've created the DVD on the PC and it works fine. Windows XP sees it just fine. Not compressed or zipped. When I put the DVD in the Mac, the Mac says it's blank. It doesn't see anything.

Can anyone help? All of my family's pics are on the old Dell and I can't leave them behind.

Thanks.

Hi Facie,

two things coming to mind:

First, make sure the DVD is 'finalized' and not 'open' for further burning.
Second, I don't know the Sonic program, but is it possible that it uses some kind proprietary burning format ?
If so, try using the 'ISO-9660' format for the DVD.

Last but not least, if all fails, try to use an USB-Memory Stick for the transfer.

Regards

Stefan
