Can't find my music ringtones on my iPhone

Could anyone please help me find my ringtone on my iPhone? The thing is that I had found the way to
make a ringtone from any song in my library and then successfully put them in my iPhone (they are visible when iPhone is connected to my Mac) but now I can't find them in the iPhone when not connected to the Mac. Please anyone...come and guide me the way to do that, to assign a song as a ringtone....thank you so very much. Nick

Ringtones can only be created from music that has been purchased from the iTunes Music Store and only if those purchased songs display a small bell icon next to them.

GarageBand also lets you create your own ringtones from your own compositions, if you choose to do so.

Once you have created a ringtone in either iTunes or GarageBand, connect your iPhone, select it in the Devices menu (if it doesn't do it automatically), and go to the Ringtones tab. Check the "Sync Ringtones" box and then check which ringtones you wish to sync. Apply the changes and sync your phone. The ringtones should appear in the Ringtone option in the Settings application.
