Jumpy cursor/erratic trackpad problem and solution

I'm visiting Buenos Aires and my Macbook air has been intermittently having a problem with the trackpad. The cursor will jump around and the scroll function (2 fingers) was erratic. I tried a bluetooth mouse and it still wasn't "right".

I just figured out that it only happens with the charger is connected. This did not occur in the US but Argentina is 220V...that must be a contributing factor. I'm using the standard charger supplied with the MBA and an adapter. The plug is the type with 2 slanted prongs ... / \ .

I'll probably call Applecare when I get back to the States but thought others may be having this difficulty, so I'm posting my experience. If someone at Apple is monitoring this and forwarding it for investigation, I'd appreciate an email so I don't spend the time.

Yes. Good post. That's exactly what I had. I installed iStat as soon as I got the jumpy cursor, and I have one core shut down, the other on full blast.

I wonder what the next course of action is?

And I think this happens more frequently when I have an external monitor plugged in.

Me again.

It doesn't happen very much at all without an external monitor plugged in.

But I'm wondering what sort of temp teh mac should be running at anyway. Without the external monitor I'm running at 60 degrees c, but the fan is at 2500rpm.

With the monitor it's the same temp, but the fan is at 6500 rpm.

So is it the temp that's causing the problem, or the excess fan?

Either way I think I'm going to take it back to the store.

I am experiencing the same issues on my MBA.

I am getting a little frustrated at it actually. I have tried it with power and without power using the standard MBA charger and two-pronged plug.

I will try the three-pronged (extension) plug if it helps later on.

The Problem seemed to be due a faulty topcase, it got replaced.
That seemed to have solved the problem for me. No further problems since then.
