Sony TMR-BT8iP

i know there arent many of you out there, but for those who are using the Sony TMR-BT8iP bluetooth transmitter, i have one question:

since it draws power from the iphone itself, does it drastically affect the battery life?

thanks in advance.

I don't use the product, however I would have to surmize that since it gets its power from the iPhone, that it would have to impact battery life in some way. As long as the transmitter is on, it would be using battery, but not knowing the specifications for the device, it is hard to say how much battery it uses. Once way to test that would be to use the phone from a full charge one day without the unit and check your battery usage. Then try another day from a full charge with the unit and check. That would give you some comparison to work with.

Hope this helps you.

I'm not familiar with the product, however I'm assuming it has to do with bluetooth stereo headsets? I'm not sure how expensive they are, but given Sony's background 😉 You might want to wait just a little longer until the v2.0 firware upgrade, it may be addressed then. I know it has been an issue of contention for the A2DP profile, so it may get supported at that time. Granted I have no way of knowing, and it is a speculation on my part.

I have the Sony bluetooth adapter.
It works great with my Sony bluetooth
earphones. The battery drain on my iPhone
is not objectionable but there is some.
But I charge my iPhone every nite and
turn it off and back on every morning
before I got to work. The 2.0 update may
allow for AD2P but I had the cash and decided
to enjoy my music wirelessly NOW.

The Sony does work with the iPhone. Just ignore the message on start-up and say NO. One feature apparently lacking is a volume control from the iPhone. You have to control volume from the headphones. This feature may work on the 8Bananas dongle, which is now available from Australia. I have heard from an Apple person that A2DP will not be included in the new software, but I guess we'll have to wait till July to find out for sure. They're claiming battery drain. I'd say this is a marketing decision like no Flash.
