ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Firmware Update Computer shutdown during update

Good day,

My computer shutdown during the update with ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Firmware Update.
Now, I can't get any of my screens to work.

Can I get some help?

Thanks.

Yup!
The same thing happened to me, while I was sitting there reading all the warnings that the firmware updater has, the computer just rebooted and after booting my fears were confirmed: no working video card!

OK, so now I have access to the machine through 10.5's shared screen and my MacBook Pro.
I figured that I could run the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Firmware-updater in my Tools folder to restore the card...
But, no.
It tells me that my card is already at version 1.0!

Is there any way to force the updater to try to flash the card again?

Help...

Here is the information you requested.

Monitors:
Samsung LCD 24 inch, port 2 of the card.
Mag Innovision CRT 19 inch, port 1 of the card.

I was installing the update ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Firmware Update.
As I was reading the update notes, about 1/4 to 1/3 of the update completed the computer shutdown.

I restarted the computer. I heard the boing but no image ever appeared on my monitors and they stayed without signal.

I restarted the computer several times and always the same results. No signal to the monitors.
I can target firewire load the harddrives of my Mac Pro on my MacBook Pro. Therefore the drives and the system works.

I have tried zapping the PRAM, no change.
I have tried disk load by holding down the option key, no change.
Nothing on my monitors, they just aren't getting any signal from the card.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hey, I got the same results as the user before me. I have reset the SMC, reset the PRAM, reseated my video card, attempted to boot off the install DVD, and attempted to plug it into other monitors. I thought for a second it might be my DVI cable but then tried using a DVI to VGA adapter with a VGA cable (from both DVI ports) but still have had no luck. I have tested my MacBook on my monitor and it works flawlessly so this is definitely not a monitor issue. I have also tried to reinstall the firmware via screen share but it said my computer did not need it. The only other thing worth mentioning may be that I used Migration Assistant to transfer over an "image" from my old portable computer so maybe that might have had something to do with it but I highly doubt it.

Me again,

I know my computer has loaded and is working.
Using screen sharing with Back to my Mac, I have access to everything.
But still nothing on my monitors.

I was in the process of shutting Down the computer when it said the shutdown was interrupted because of several programs open.

When I investigated the reason for not shutting down, the software update was jumping.
I clicked on it. Read and downloaded the software (about 2 min).
I was sure that the computer had stopped the shutdown process.
So I decided to continue the installation.

It asked for my password, I gave it.
It started installing, at about 30% complete it suddenly turned off.

Any suggestions?

Thanks again.

Happened to me also. Downloaded the update via Software Update.. shutdown the computer later on and was prompted to install the ATI update.. entered password.. install got to 63% and then the Mac Pro shutdown. Now it doesn't recognise my display (30" Cinema Display).

After phoning AppleCare support, who really didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, I was told to phone a local service provider.

Phoned the service provider, once again they had no real knowledge (they suggesting re-installing the system!!), and was told I should probably just take the graphics card into them so they could send it to Apple and get a replacement card.

My update completed w/o problem, so can't help much.

With that said, I wonder if you could run the firmware update again remotely and see if that would recover the video outout? I've run into a similar situation with the recent keyboard firmware update for MacBook Pro. After installation of the keyboard update failed, I lost the keyboard and mouse completely, but but I ran the updater again with external keyboard, and my internal kb and mouse came back.
