Bridging 2 Airport Extreme

I have a pair of original Extremes the one one that is 10/100. My access point in the sitting room does not cover my bedroom. I did pre-cable my house with UTP during renovation but I added in my Apple TV again model 1. I am able to interconnect all via 802.11n with binding of channel to get a higher throughput. However it is very unstable and the 802.11n drops very often.

Can I use the UTP of the 2nd Airport Extreme as bridge mode connecting to the sitting room. That way I can use the 2nd Airport Extreme as a bridging hub via wired to have a more stable connection.

I can do it by connecting Airport Extreme (1) to another Linksys in my bedroom over UTP to achieve this. My 2nd Airport is lying idle. I would like to remove that Linksys and put in that 2nd Airport Extreme. Is that possible? I tried various parameter on the 2nd Extreme and it seems to work only with 802.11n to bridge the network.

Did It do it wrong?

You can connect the 2 AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) via Ethernet. Simply configure the 2nd AEBS to act as a bridge so that it is not distributing IP addresses.

two apple extreme N routers> connect first with second thru ethernet if possible> second must be set for bridge mode> you can then (assuming you have N capable Macs) set the first to N only connection and the second to b/g(assuming you have b/g Macs).

you can connect other devices like HP laserjet by ethernet to first or second for 24/7 networked printing, vonage by ethernet for phone, Express(create its own network) by ethernet to connect wireless to remote xbox360 or Wii and Apple TV to connect to first Apple N router for speed to upload video.

So, are you saying that 2 Airport Extreme 802.11n devices cannot be bridged except through ethernet cable? For six months or so, I had 2 Airport Extreme 802.11n bridged along with an older AirPort Extreme 802.11g. The second Airport Extreme 802.11n was set as a relay. All worked fine until recently when the power went out and I had to reboot them. I think I did a software update at the time (can't recall, now) and I can no longer get them to work. It makes little sense to me to run ethernet cable between 2 "ns"...I might as well just hardwire everything. Should I be able to bridge 2 n basestations?

Thanks.

I do not remember what happened when i did that last year when the 1st set of Extreme came out of Apple stores. I tried to bridge them and it did not work then except via the 802.11. Now all I did was unplug my Linksys and put in the 2nd Extreme and it all connected immediately after all the latest firmware updates.

Looks like wasted 1 year of usage on my Extreme.
