HOW DO I COMPLETELY RESET MY iMAC

WHEN I SAY RESET I MEAN EVERYTHING, DON'T CARE ABOUT ANYTHING THAT'S ON THE HARD DRIVE.
I'VE DONE SOMETHING AND I CAN'T EVEN GET THE 2ND INSTALL DISC TO WORK.
I NEED TO REALLY START FROM SCRATCH AND RE BOOT
HELP ME

read thru these choices, you don't say which imac.

anyway
zap the pram, reset the power manager and you should be good to go.

if you have an intel imac, then unplug everything (do not touch the power button) wait 20 seconds and put the power cord back with only mouse & keyboard and re-start. if back to normal then do your install.

Okay. Shut down the computer by holding down the power button. Hold down the left mouse button, and press the power button to restart. Keep the mouse held down, and the disk will eject. Insert the first disk. Restart again, and hold C down. The installation process will start - when you get to select the drive, use the Options button on the screen as I mentioned earlier.
