It's the funkiest thing. It's actually become very handy as I've been carrying my thermometer in my purse. I accidentally silenced my iPhone, but the thermometer told me I had a call.
Next I might have to test how far this phenomenon works...
It's the same thing with loudspeakers, I used to have speakers for my iPhone, but the constant beeps made me crazy and made me get rid of the speakers...
Well, yes, my computer speakers send out an annoying wail when a call is coming in and the iPhone is sitting in front of the computer. This is definitely not in the "needs to be fixed" category. I kind of like the idea of carrying around a digital thermometer in my purse in case I silence the phone and forget about it.
While it may be annoying for some, it falls into the "can't be fixed" category on the phone side, since it applies to how GSM signals are done by the iPhone, the carrier's cell towers, and any other GSM cell phone or data device. One suggestion somebody had was wrapping the iPhone in aluminum foil. While it did cut down on the GSM interference, it would also prevent the iPhone being able to communicate with the cell tower.
Alternatively, shielded speakers, with shielded wiring are not susceptible to the same interference. Some users have mentioned on discussions that wrapping the speaker cable around ferrite beads or a ground loop isolater helps.
I have heard that many car audio places carry ferrite beads for minimizing interference with car stereo speakers.
