convert Cineon 2k or DPX files to SD

I have a customer who wants to supply me with an external hard drive that will potentially have several Cineon 2K files, and/or several DPX files. My system is not currently set up to do anything HD. They want to edit these files, eventually for output to a SD DVD. My question is, can i convert these files using Compressor to an SD format, and do the edit all in SD? Will Compressor recognize these files, or do i need some sort of special software/ plug-in? Any insight into this would be very helpful!

You cant get Cineon or dpx straight in to FCS but I have a Kona LHe and that has a utility than converts them to QT. I think its called AJA DPXtoQuickTime converter. I have used it a few times, I think you want to import as log files to keep the colours correct but try a test. This will make a 10 bit QT. Its very big and you need a very fast raid to play it but once you have a QT then compressor will make you the SD files.

Worked very well last time I used it.
