Why does itunes take so long to load?

Question

Why does itunes take so long to load?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but why does itunes take so long to load? On the two computers that i have, itunes takes ages to load! between 30 secs on one to 3 mins on the other!

both computers have a good spec, so it's not performace issues.

Probably because you have too many programs at start lounch

its not that, I only open iTunes when my computer is idle, and the only startup programs I have are antivirus ones

Jaisen, when is a library "too big"? My library is 130GB and doesn't take anything close to 3 minutes to open.

I suspect it is the antivirus software scanning the iTunes opening processes & folders. Another clue pointing to security software would be iTunes taking a long time to shut down.

I tried temporarily disabling antivirus, and yes, it did load quicker. Still takes 30 seconds though. As to the library thing, my library is only about 8 GB
