Question

Short name

Hey, does anybody know how to change the short name for my user account, for example the username is Angus and the short name is gus but I want to change it to angus

 Santa Rosa 2.0GHz MacBook  20" iMac G5  24" Aluminium iMac  30GB iPod , Mac OS X (10.5.2)

I don't have to change my short name and the instructions seem as if one small mistake could lead to a very large problem so I'll leave it as it is,

In Leopard you don't need to follow that document to change the short name. It is easy. Go to accounts in System Preferences. Click the padlock to unlock you admin account.

Right click on your My Account name in the left hand window. Choose Advanced Options. This brings up a window that will allow you to change the short name easily. As long as you don't mess with any of the other settings you should be OK. I changed my short name using this method and had no problems.

Do I have to change the home directory from /Users/MY OLD SHORT NAME to /Users/MY NEW NAME
