smtp-server not reached via Mail

Hi there!

I can not connect to a smtp-server via port 25 with Apple's Mail. Firewall is on, but port 25 isn't blocked. Weired: Can connect to the same smtp-server with Mozilla's Thunderbird via port 25?! Who can help?
