Watch rented Movie on Apple TV

Hi, since you can only watch the movie on one device, it has to be transferred, you cannot stream a rented movie to the TV. You need to select the TV in iTunes then select the movie tab and Sync the rented movie to the TV. This will transfer the movie from your Air to the TV hard drive. This may take awhile unless you have a fast wireless connection. Good luck, it worked for me.

Now this might seem nuts but I don't have a tab for movies when I view apple TV through my iTunes.
Both are up to date with the latest software.

This is a dumb situation. I also rented a movie on my MacBook laptop. My Apple TV is synced to my Desktop iMac. I went to watch the rented movie by going to "Shared Movies" on my Apple TV and it doesn't see the rented movie! If the movie is rented under the same AppleID as the machine that is synced to the Apple TV then we should be able to view it under the "Share Movies" option. There's no reason for this limitation except to make viewing our paid content ridiculously difficult.

I agree completely. I travel quite a bit and rent movies while on the road. It's impossible for me to transfer those movies to my home computer or to my Apple TV when I'm back home. This is an incredibly frustrating limitation. I paid for the rental so why am I limited to a single device for viewing? Since my iPhone is synched with the home computer, too - I can't even sync it there (but that's another story...)

And you are absolutely right. It is ridiculous that our rented movies cannot be played on whatever authorized device we choose. This is pretty much as lame as Amazon Unbox is.

Okay here is a kludge...I had two rented movies on my MBA. I moved them (one at a time) to my 2nd gen iPod Nano. I plugged the Nano into my Mac Mini and moved the movies to it. Then I synced them to the Apple TV.
