Studio 21" CRT with Windows

I'm not an Apple user - but it's not my fault - I was raised up that way, honest! Hopefully someone will take pity on me and answer my question.
I recently aquired an Apple 21" CRT Studio monitor (so far haven't dislocated any vertebra, and no hernia as yet) and would like to use it with my PC. I connected it, but the image is very narrow. Of course no physical controls on the monitor for adjusting properties.
I'm wondering if this is possibly because I don't have the software required to adjust the display settings, or if this monitor should be compatible without the software and I just have a bad unit.
I see that "Apple Displays Software (AppleVision)" is downloadable, but can it be installed on Windows XP?
Appreciate any help!

I also was a pure PC user for over 20 years until I finally had the 'guts' to cross the line 😉

I couldn't find any Windows software for the Display.
To my knowledge the Apple Displays Software is for Mac OS only.

Maybe these specifications and the Timings Table can help you adjusting: http://support.apple.com/specs/displays/AppleStudio_Display21.html
Depending on what graphics card you have installed, maybe by adjusting the timings in the 'Control Center' of the graphics card driver, you can get the full size.

Stefan - thanks for your reply, I will get back into it next week and will look into your suggestion. I have downloaded the user manual and also a service manual (not that I could do much in the way of repairs though).
From what I've been able to dig up, it sonds like this monitor should be PC compatible, so you would think that there would be some way to access the screen controls. Whenever I plug any other monitor into my PC, it almost always requires some adjustment of the screen geometry, so it wouldn't make sense not to be able to access these controls somehow. I'm using an ATI "All In Wonder 128" graphics card.

Hi,

to my knowledge the ATI Driver Suite, even for the 'old' AIW (no offence) has a section, where you can set the geometry in terms of size, position etc.
With the newer Driver Suites, it is called ATI Control Center.

But it is a while back, since I had/used a PC with an ATI card, so I might be wrong.

None taken - I have admittedly trouble throwing things away that still work. Heck I have trouble throwing things away that DON'T work!

I know that feeling, although when a thing is broken it goes away.

But when I switched from PCs to Mac two years ago, I had a drawer full of old graphics cards, NICs, cables etc. that I put in a big box and handed it to the guy that bought my last PC.
Don't know what he did with it, maybe EBay...

Well, I found and tried the ATI screen controls, and they have no effect. So probably either this monitor needs a Mac, or it needs a repair, neither of which I can provide.
Too bad - that looks like a really well built monitor compared to others I've had opened up.
