JANUARY UPDATE Important Question

Hey all!

I bought an iPod Touch in Argos today. The last one in stock. And I was really happy. Until I got it home and connected it to my iMac. I put the songs on it, charged it up and started to watch a TV Show I had recorded. Then I found out that I was missing a Mail icon. And a Maps icon. And I could not re-arrange my home screen. I had not got the January Update.

So I went onto the iTunes store, and I discovered that the "Download the January Update" had disappeared. So I googled the update, and clicked on a link that opened the iTunes Store in iTunes for me. Yay! I read about the update, getting really excited, only to find out that pressing "OK" takes me to the iTunes homepage. I rang up Apple, and they said the update was no longer available.

So what do I do? Do I leave it? Do I forget having Mail?
Or do you think the June update will also contain the Jan Update???

Thanks for all your help,
James

I would take it back to Argos and ask for your money back (if you are still within 14 days of buying it).

You seem to have got an old model without the latest OS on it.
You really don't want to be paying out another £12.99 for something that you should be getting for free. Get your money back and order one from the Apple Store or buy one from a store where you know they are the latest models.

If you got the iPod from Argos at a discount because it is an older model then you need to get the update somehow from iTunes. I can still find the update in the UK iTunes store.

Go to the following web page and click on the link on the left hand side for 'iPod Touch Owners' Buy Now, that takes me to the right place in the iTunes Store to buy the update.
