I had guts to buy the machine, and glory in the fact that it works!

Well it didn't update anything that I can see.

Time Machine application is still at version 1.0

Airport Utility application is still at version 5.3.1

Wireless Card Firmware version 1.3.4 (not sure if this is new or not)

    Still beating up on it......

Hmm, well, it just says Time Machine and AirPort updates v1.0.

Maybe later today or tomorrow they'll release more details. It might not change the versions if it's just fixes, who knows!

And maybe AirPort driver updates don't have a version? Dunno!

    Maybe try restarting your Mac?

If it's not a firmware update for Time Capsule, then it's probably nothing significant enough to fix a majority of issues being posted on this forum.

Apple on Wednesday afternoon posted a fix that amends issues with both its AirPort wireless adapters and its Time Machine backup utility.

Time Machine and AirPort Update 1.0 (10.9MB) is said to include compatibility fixes for users hoping to use Time Machine backups with the recently introduced Time Capsule wireless router and its built-in hard drive.

It also includes AirPort wireless driver fixes, according to Apple, though the company doesn't say which devices are affected or list symptoms.

The update is only available for systems running the client version of Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2 or later.

The update requires a "Restart".... You have no choice....

Just reporting the facts as I see them....

I just downloaded the update and, like others, didn't see any obvious changes. In fact, when I loaded the Airport Utility expecting it to download an update to the Time Capsule, it didn't seem to have anything new. At any rate, I have been so frustrated by the long backup times so far that I've never successfully backed up my MBP to the Time Capsule. I just restarted it now after installing the new update. It's still in progress, but so far seems to be zooming along much faster than before.

(Note: I deleted the old, incomplete "sparsebundle" file before restarting the backup. I don't know if that's still needed after this update or note.)

Yes, deleting this was the best thing to do!

Airport Utility has just popped open with firmware updates for both my wireless devices. This happened an hour after downloading the updates in software update. So just running software update doesn't install the firmware. Everyone else should have the same thing happen. Firmware is now at 7.3.1.
