I don't want my podcasts to appear in reverse-chronological order. How can I change the order the episodes are listed?

Just click on the column head (Release date), the order will flip every time you do that and a little arrow will show if it is chronological order or reverse chronological.

When I click on the column head in the podcast list in iTunes, the little triangle flips but the order doesn't change. When I try to sort by other columns, it seems to accept the menu command, but again -- no change. My iTunes is only willing to sort podcast in reverse chronological order, although it pretends otherwise.

Correction: iTunes changes the sort order of episodes within each podcast, but always leaves the overall podcast list sorted alphabetically. Too bad this behaviour is useless to me.

I agree, I listed to a podcast that has 3 episodes per day, and it constantly has them listed backwards...
If I make a custom SmartPlaylist, it doesn't bring the video along with them, and it lists it under music, not a podcast.
    I hate that.

What you describe changes the order within iTunes, but in my iPod, the podcast episodes are still in reverse chron order. Is there any way to change the order on the iPod???

I specifically bought the iPod Nano so that it would play back the podcasts in date order, like they do in the iTunes program. One would naturally assume that the software between them is compatible. But it's not

I am having the same problem with a ipod classic 80 gig, have you had any joy in finding out what the issue is.

Not being able to reverse the order of podcasts is one of the most ridiculous things ive seen. I won't buy another ipod until this is changed. Having to go back to the control wheel everytime a podcast segment ends to move up to the next one is annoying.

Has anyone found a way to get around this?

Why don't you save all your podcasts to a folder and delete them. After that, place them in the order that you want.

Place them in the order you want after you've deleted them?? I'm not following that!

If you go to the main heading for the podcast and hit the PLAY button (not the center button) the podcasts will play in chronological order. At least when I tried this last night it worked great.. It seemed like if you stop it jumps back to the oldest one again even though you may have finished it. A quick tap on the >>| and you will jump to where you were in the next one.

When someone told me about this, I kept hitting the middle button and it doesn't work there.

After looking for a solution for over a year this is it! Pushing PLAY on the podcast title plays them in the correct order. My podcast I listen to is broken down into segments. They show up as:

    Segment 5
    Segment 4
    Segment 3, etc.

If I hit the play button they now play in the correct order..thanks!

When I first tried this on my iPod Nano, it worked and I was satisfied. But then I noticed that my software was out of date on my nano because it was formatted in Windows FAT32 instead of Mac format. So I had to reset my nano, formatted in Mac format, updated the software but now I seem to have lost this "feature". Now I'm back to where I was, even worse. Now when I try it, it goes back to the screen of the previous podcast but showing "1 of 0" and playing time of 0:00 to -0:00. So much for "upgrading" the software, this was definitely a down grade, ARRGGHHH.

It's definitely not because of the Mac formatting. I've accepted all the iPod nano 3G updates they've put out and this feature works great.

It IS very difficult to remember not to hit the middle button when you get to the podcast "header"... you've got to hit Play! I do wonder if the podcaster can mess this up somehow. I did get a whole bunch of duplicates all over my iTunes and I had to delete them manually. You might want to try a different podcast and see if it works there.
