EXS24 as standalone/VST?

Hi. I work with Logic and use lots and lots of instances of the EXS24 for my tracks. Mainly because i sample a lot. I have many many samples all loaded and organised in the EXS24. I am using Ableton Live for my live show. It would be great if i could use the EXS24 from within Ableton Live, which can read AU and VST instruments.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Also, someone mentioned the EXSP24. I dont know whether this would do the job?

If anyone could offer any advice id appreciate it. . .

Thanks, Ben 🙂

Bad news I'm afraid, the EXS24 is not a vst or AU instrument it is part of the Logic program and cannot be used by Ableton any more than, say,the score editor.
It may be possible to sync Logic to Ableton to access the ESX24 but it would mean using 2 computers on stage, one slaved to the other. I doubt that this is a path that you'd want to go down. However, I'm sure that some of the experts here will be along soon to say if that's possible or not.

Good Luck,
R.

Hi. Thanks for that, but has noone heard of the EXS 'P' 24 (EXSP24). Is it just a myth? Ive searched for it online and have found you can get it as a VST for mac. I want to know if anyone has heard of it and whether it will do the job reading my rex/exs library and is very very low CPU.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks, Ben 🙂

Hi Ben

I've never tried this but I heard that it works. You can use the IAC midi driver to send midi from one app to another inside the your mac. So you should be able to trigger the ESX from Live using it. But of course you have to have both apps open at the same time and will use much more ram

The ESXP24 was a sample player that came with Logic a few versions back before apple bought it and included the ESX24 with it. I don't know if it is available anymore or not

I have Emagic EXSP 24... I bougth it 4 - 5 years ago...
the VST version run on Mac OS 9 and PC!
the OSX version was updated by Emagic (included in Logic Gold 6) to AudioUnits only

No VST for OS X!

Exsp24 was an eMagic Product. Even if you could get ahold of a copy of this software I highly doubt that it would function on new intel Mac's as the drivers are probably so old and not UB. Back when you had to buy all the instruments for Logic seprately I had a copy of the exs player.I ma not sure if it was the ExsP24. Anyway,... The license's for the instruments that were purchased seperately were all held on the dongle for logic. I am pretty sure I still have the drivers as I never throw anything away.

If you want a VST version of something that plays EXS format files Why not just use KontaKt by NI . just a thought.
